MANGANESE

Manganese has many applications. In Particular, it is used in the Alloys and Steel, Medical, Glass, and military industries.
About 90% of global consumption of Manganese is in the alloys and steel industries. Steel contains about 1% manganese, to increase the strength and also improve workability and resistance to wear.

Manganese is also found in bones, the liver, kidneys, and pancreas. Manganese helps the body form connective tissue, bones, blood clotting factors, and sex hormones. Manganese is used to make clear glass, to desulfurize and deoxidize steel in steel production, and to reduce the octane rating in gasoline. It also is used as a black-brown pigment in paint and as filler in dry-cell batteries. Its alloys help stiffen the aluminum in soft-drink cans, according to Chemicool.

0.3 Manganese dioxide is found in nature as pyrolusite. It is used in explosive and pyrotechnic compositions as an oxidizing agent.
Magnesium is used in a variety of ways in defense applications, showcasing its tremendous utility.
